Karola Torkos is a German contemporary jeweler living and working in Luebeck in northern Germany. She teaches, curates and exhibits work internationally. She has been part of the organizing team of the ERFURTER SCHMUCKSYMPOSIUM since 2012.
Initially trained in textile design she completed a degree at the jewelry department in Burg Giebichenstein, University of Art and Design Halle graduating in 2002. She then moved to Norway to work at Juhls Silvergallery in Kautokeino.
In 2004, she relocated to London and completed an MA in goldsmithing, silversmithing, metalwork and jewelry at the Royal College of Art. She graduated in 2006. After many years of working and teaching in London she moved back to Germany in 2013.
