Join us on October 25th from 5 to 7 PM for the opening reception of Heroes | Villains, an exhibition of papel picado works by Valerie Rangel. In this exhibition, papercuts of contentious characters hang suspended like windows into another realm. Each artwork unveils a truth about a controversial character or showcases the intricacies of paper as a medium. Through installation design and the composition of positive and negative space, Rangel manipulates light to create grayscale cast shadows that demonstrate the technical complexity of paper-cutting and the moral ambiguity of the "villains" she depicts.
