Join Tigre Mashaal-Lively and Anastazia Louise for the one year celebration ofThe Solacii! This block party features a performance from Anastazia Louise of Bad Unkl Sista, who created the cloak with deconstructed garments and heirlooms gathered from the community, symbolizing the collective memories and stories of humanity. They'll be accompanied by live music from Grace Rosario Perkins, while celebratory dancing will be fueled by Honeymoon Brewery and accompanying food trucks.
The story
This 21-foot-tall outdoor sculpture, composed of steel, resin, lights, sound, and reclaimed textiles, has found a new home in Santa Fe outside of form & concept. New Mexico artist Tigre first unveiled The Solacii on Friday, July 30 during the Closing Reception of Entangled Futurities. Mashaal-Lively (they/them/their) is a multidisciplinary artist and founding member of the Earthseed Black Arts Alliance.
The cloak that covers The Solacii was tenderly created by Anastazia Louise from deconstructed garments and heirlooms gathered from the community, symbolizing the collective memories and stories of humanity.
WHAT TO BRING
On the day of our Block Party, we’ll be accepting monetary donations made out to Bienvenidos Food Pantry alongside dry good donations that will be donated directly to the shelter. During this event, you also can sign up to volunteer!
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Through the end of 2021, form & concept and collaborating artists Tigre Mashaal-Lively and Anastazia Louise called on the community to rally in support of The Solacii’s restoration. With the support of the restoration project,the artists repaired the piece with fire-retardant materials and engaged the Santa Fe community.
