Santa Fe-based artist Matthew Mullins creates a monumental body of interconnected works in painting, sculpture, and pinhole photography that explore the world of nature through geometric patterns. The Sun in Our Bones draws parallels between the diminutive realms of subatomic particles and the vast and infinite cosmos. “How do you encompass that staggering span, and pull someone all the way through it?” he asked when discussing the project with gallery staff. Mullins uses recurring motifs throughout, tying together the broad spectrum between the scales of forms in the universe. The show opens Friday, Sept. 28, with a 5 p.m. reception.
